The Flat Head was founded in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, in 1996 by Kobayashi-san, a vintage clothing repairman who learned garment construction by deconstructing hundreds of pairs of old American jeans. His goal was simple: merge classical mid-century construction techniques with his own uncompromising vision of quality.

All products are made in Japan using bespoke fabrics, vintage machinery, and labour-intensive production methods. The brand remains headquartered in Nagano
