This magnificent early 1950s piece depicts an eagle and a dragon glaring at each other with Mount Fuji between them. The blue and silver body is accented with red ribbing and red piping, creating a tricolor-inspired color scheme. The absence of the word "JAPAN" at the top of the design allows for ample use of the back, and the eagle and dragon are meticulously embroidered without distortion. Vividly colored threads are used for Mount Fuji, creating striking contrast against the matte blue satin fabric, which has been aged to reduce its sheen.

The reversible side features a Japan map design. The body has little blank space, with the back largely filled by embroidery for a luxurious finish. In addition to the map of Japan, it condenses beautiful scenery—Mount Fuji, a five-story pagoda, cherry blossoms, pine trees, and a torii gate—making it appealing as a landscape pattern as well. The block letter "JAPAN" is also rare in vintage pieces.
