The ginger lily blooms beautifully and was brought to Hawaii in the early 1900s. It has become a popular flower for lei flowers along with Kahi ginger and white ginger. Flowers used in leis are also very popular as motifs for aloha shirts, and this design was created by various brands at the time. This shirt is a reproduction of a vintage original Hawaiian shirt made by Waikiki Sports, a store that specialized in shirts and dresses on Kalakaua Avenue.
